Looking Greener

We are very excited to announce our acceptance into the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED for Homes Rating Program with our project in Skyforest - The first in San Bernardino County!

The 1800 s.f. home will sit on just under a quarter of an acre, overlooking City Creek, the City of Highland, and on a clear afternoon, the Pacific Ocean. The view alone is worth Gold, and with the implementation of the innovative, eco-friendly and sustainable measures, the home will be nationally recognized with a Gold Rating by the USGBC.

Last Spring the de-construction began on the existing cabin, built in the 1940's, where it was literally taken apart board by board and salvaged to be re-used in other projects. A local church in the community will be utilizing some of the lumber to reconstruct a shipwreck for their summer Vacation Bible School and the teaching of Paul's journey's.

The site has been graded, compacted and balanced so as not to waste any material. The footing excavation has begun, as well, and the concrete forms are being erected, which will later be used in the construction of the outdoor deck.

Next month we'll be pouring concrete utilizing fly-ash; a waste product of a coal fired electrical plant in Arizona.

We've joined with ENERGY STAR

As one of the DOE's newest partners in Commercial and Industrial Service and Product Providers, together, we believe that preserving the natural environment for future generations is not only possible, but will increase value for our clients' projects.

Here's how:
1) Incorporate, in the design process, the strategic management approach from the New Building Design Guidelines provided by ENERGY STAR.
2) Help customers estimate an energy performance target and evaluate design energy consumption throughout the design process by using and promoting the National Energy Performance Rating system and on-line Target Finder provided by ENERGY STAR.
3) Specify an energy performance goal in contract documents to enable customers to confirm that the energy design intent is met.
4) Document success stories in partnering with ENERGY STAR and achieving top energy performance through case studies, publications and the Internet.

Take the ENERGY STAR pledge
